290 Days and counting

Well my diet has officially kicked in today and it is going well, but they always go well on the 1st day.  It is when I get to the 8th week that is when I will know how much I really want this show.  I am about to get a new gym home about 15 minutes from home so that will be awesome.  They cater to bodybuilders (most of the owners are actual competitors).  I will be making some changes to my workouts on top of my new keto diet.  I will be going back to my go ole stand by HIT/FST-7 hybrid workouts.  I will post them up when I get the chance.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and a great New Years.

Quiet Sunday

Well here were again. Another Sunday evening and I am ready for meal 5 already. Going to not lie wanting to just have crap, but I’ve done well since restarting my training full blast. I’m actually looking forward to cardio tomorrow morning.

Been trying out the preworkout stuff that Jay is advertising. Got the thermo also and will let you know how it goes in a few weeks. Love that it is a single pill a day. Going to be picking up the Block HD next for post workout.

Diet has been at roughly 90% everyday. Sometimes I do fall off track at dinner time after I workout. May have to shift one of my 3 carb meals to dinner to make sure I am getting all the proper macros in to build myself up. Also going to start the EXT Sports Test product also soon. Need to get my body rocking on all cylinders!!!!

Mondays

Well it is another day another week. Getting my mind right and getting my training turned up to get myself on stage.
So I took a picture of my breakfast. Call it funny, but people have asked me what I eat for breakfast. I will post up my routines this afternoon. Diet will not be posted. Also will start using my blog as a place to help me continue my quest to get on stage and everyday things.

Another week

Well the last few weeks have been crazy. Between me being at work and our dear friend and her boyfriend staying with us for a week Trish and I’s lives have been hectic already.

In two weeks we move into our new apartment (first time both our names have been on the lease) and I’m starting to hit high gear for my contest prep. Plus Trish has started her biggest loser challenge. I will keep everyone posted on how that is going.

Contest prep has been a little easier than I believed it would be just from the fact that Trish has been really supportive and so have my co-workers. They don’t mind me stopping what I am doing every 2.5 hours and eating a meal.

Meals have been scaled back to 6 a day at 2.5 hour intervals and the carbs are almost non existent. I get them for breakfast and that’s about it. Like I say to everyone that is just how my life will be lived from here on out. Just to give a little insight into my diet it is basically egg whites, chicken and turkey for protein with oats, brown rice Adams as my choice for carbs. I get carbs my 1st three meals and then no more throughout the rest of the day.

Cardio has been a pain in the arse, but as always I just power through it and don’t think about it. Though I have begun to read more articles that are saying shorter (10-15 minutes) more intense sessions are actually better for fat loss. You would do 3 cardio sessions a day at that allotted time frame. Wondering if it really works. Not going to try it this time around, but maybe this off-season and next contest prep.
I know I get in extra cardio with all the walking I do at work so I might include walking the stairs if I can to help get in another session during the day. Every little thing helps.

And that includes sleep so I will go to bed and try not to have dreams of ice cream.

Contest Diet underway

Well after a minor misstep and shooting for a show in July I decided with my mentor to do a show later in the year.  Well Monday will be the start of my contest diet.  It will be tough, but nothing that is worth doing is easy at all.  I will post up different recipes that i use during my diet.  Can’t be eating baked chicken all the time.  Gotta have a little seasoning to make the food better.  Hope everyone is had a good time this weekend.

Buffalo Style Chicken

Here is the first recipe and my go to food when I’m starving.

Now remember this is for bodybuilders. I will put a “normal” portion in parentheses.

8oz (3.5oz) chicken breast
4 tablespoons Frank’s hot sauce
1 teaspoon ground red peppers
Melba toast (optional)
2 tablespoons lemon juice
Salt and pepper to taste

Cut the chicken breast into strips and soak in lemon juice. You can toss the strips in crushed melba toast crumbs if you want. In a large non stick pan (no oil or cooking spray) put strips into cook adding salt and pepper. Once cooked through (roughly 7-10 minutes) place strips into hot sauce and red pepper mix and toss. After that it is time to eat. I love these things and they go great on either a romaine or spinach salad.

My soon to be recipe book idea

Well it is Thursday and time for another posting to my blog. By now I’ve rambled about a lot of things that really weren’t bodybuilding related and that will continue just not today.

Today I am going to begin the long and painful process of putting together me off season and precontest recipe book. I will post photos and recipes here on the blog as I try to put together different things that are good for a bodybuilder’s diet, but also good for the normal Joe or Jane in the gym.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Hump Day

Thank goodness for hump day.  It gives you the ability to see from the top of the mountain and see the descending slope to the end of the week.  This week has somewhat been a little busy for me, but training is going well and so is cardio.  Might step it up and throw in some at night also, but have to consult with my trainer on this one.  Shoulders are coming along, but need to kick it up another notch for pretty much all my body parts.  But hey slowly, but surely wins the race as everyone always says.

Well time to get back to work after having my lunch break.  Peace.

It was a good birthday

Well today was my birthday and as many of you know since I am dieting I only get one cheat meal a week if my trainer thinks I have done well that week.  Well tonight I had a great cheat meal dinner.  As always it was Italian, but I opted for manicotti instead of my usual angel hair pasta in meat sauce.  A change of pace is always nice.  I did work today (gotta make up for the 6 months i was unemployed and could not pay all the bills)

Tomorrow is a new day and one step closer to my show.  So I have to hit cardio extra hard to burn off the bread I had.  Peace and good night.
